melb.I

Was is in Melbourne at the beginning of the week, meeting my sis, mini-holiday. Ah.. It's such a great season to be holiday-ing! It's the beginning of Summer and there's no school, results are not out, December is approaching, everyone has gone back to SG, it's quiet, no stress.... SHIOK EH!

Anyway, Melbourne is not bad.. There's more life in there, as compared to Brisbane. I was pretty much in the city, and comparing to the city people in Brisbane, Melbs are more rude definitely. While..not as rude as Singaporeans lah. Maybe, on par?

(Singapore have many great things, but being polite is not one of them, so I'm not saying Aus is a great country ok? Just that in this aspect Aus is a more friendlier country than SG, even if its pretentious. you know some hateful people think that I'm in overseas and I'll be ungrateful to my family, my country, and that I keep saying everything is good here. But c'mon, Singapore has its flaws one okay? )

So.. with city life, fast-paced, comes rude people. It's typical I guess. There are more shops there in Melb, more expensive, more bistros.. It's like comparing Jurong and Pasir Ris? There's a difference, but it's still the same country.

Okay, pictures! Can't remember when was the last time I posted pictures here. =X Kind of don't want to post pics on face-book anymore. it's a horrible place. :( long story for another day perhaps.

We stayed at one of the Crown hotels! (crown promenade). Of course it's not my money, my sis was there with her husband so I just joined in for a few days... =X It is... very nice. One of the better ones. which I probably can't afford or want to spend on. Yeah, I'm 5star stingy. hmmf.

We shared this huge serving of ribs (pork, beef, mutton) for our first dinner there, and it was awesome! Think I missed out on bak-kua for too long, that's why the pork ribs tasted superbly nice, but not the beef, haha.

Day one was walking around the city, shopping and eating and walking, catching up with our lives. So.. no pictures. =X

Day two was our tour to Phillip Island, which is a must-must-must-go if you visit Melbourne. Otherwise, Melbourne is pretty much as boring as Brisbane, opps.
Nice weather, bright and sunny!

Wallabies! (mini kangaroos)
Kangaroos are huge ones that are mainly in Africa or Central Australia, supposedly.

They are teaching to use the whip to make a very loud "whoop!" sound without hitting yourself.

Also teaching to throw a boomerang.

Very aussie-like scenery.

Koalas on the tree.
Koalas in Queensland are smaller than other cities they say :)

To see the seals.. but we didn't. :(
so.. dinner.

Two penguins snuggled up inside their home! :)

So anyway, the highlight of the trip was in the evening where the penguins come back to shore and return to their home, feed their baby, rest.. SUPER cute penguins! they are the smallest penguin on earth, just 20-30cm height. :D

No photography/videos allowed because it might be harmful to the penguins and might scare them back into the sea and all. But can always count on youtube, there will always be someone who managed to take some cool videos.

The first video shows how they come back to shore. They will wait for an appropriate amount of penguins, and walk back. Sometimes they get scared halfway walking, and then they will suddenly turn around and walk back to the sea! And then they walk, and turn back again, and the cycle repeats until they cross the beach, hahaha... it's all so stupid looking and funny!

The second video is shorter, it just shows how the penguins walk on land.. I thought they are cute too, until I realized every time they stop, they are actually shitting/farting (checked with rangers), and they are constantly doing this! and right in front of me! so, no they are not as cute now...

So the penguins will walk walk walk until they reach their 'house', if it's at the Bayfront kind then good for them, but some will live at top of the hill and it will take what seems forever to reach their house lor.. :/

haha, okie.. continue tomorrow! we're going to the zoo! :)
