2013 thus far.

Yea.. I realised I don't blog as often as I used to, which I should, especially since so much have happened since the last entry.

And also because I think blogging is healthy :)

*************************

I got engaged! Last year, before it ended.

He finally got around to get a ring and proposed, and I thought it was sweet because he's all into the 'process' and he really did it! :) I mean, I wasn't surprised that we are getting married, but the proposal and the day he chose to do that really surprised me. And the fact that he found it necessary to propose, get a ring, kneel down on one knee and ask me to marry him, really consoled me cos it made everything seem more real, somehow.

And also how he managed to find time to buy the ring, choose and pick up the ring without me knowing, is impressive. hehe.

okay.. don't get carried away, it was a simple proposal..

Of course I was really bummed that he got the ring size wrong because the first ring he got me 6 years ago when we were still in our honeymoon period, was a prefect fit. And so naturally my expectations were high. but it's... something, still..

Umm yeah, I'm getting married. There's that.
And so now I have "my precious" just sitting at a corner of my shelf.. looking really pretty. :))

Had to start the wedding planning, and so far it is just one scary experience for me. First was the location scouting, and then the banquet planning, which was SOOOO OMG. Seriously the money you give the hotels for a wedding.... not worth it. And I say this after contemplating for a whole 3 months.

You're getting married lor, not robbed.
Why must Singapore always make the happiest things in life so darn expensive?! Food, music, cars, houses, WEDDINGS.

Ok I mean, I'm sure every girl grew up thinking having a banquet is equivalent to getting married and that it is just customary. We dream of wearing a poofy dress, walking down the aisle, doing yum-sengs and drinking champagnes.. everything looking so grand and golden and lots of fun and beautiful.

I would get really happy thinking about it, really.. But then my stupid brain will start thinking that I made everyone pay over $100 for my wedding.. (and how slumpy-looking our house will be because we don't have enough money for house renovations and we will probably be spending the next 30 years of our lives paying back our loans with interests.. )

This is what happens right? Give over $100 ang pow to the wedded couples, which eventually goes to......? THE HOTEL. Essentially you're just forced to pay for the food. Of course I'm sure most of them would be glad to.. But you know, I don't condone extortion.

And I haven't even gone into how much Gardens by the Bay is charging for the venue. Just the venue. Geez... Even if I got money also not like that spend one lor.

I guess I would gladly do it if getting married wasn't so commercialised in Singapore, sadly..

So when he asked me if I wanted a wedding.. I said I don't need one. I've changed my answer a few times for the past 3 months, hahaha. But eventually, my answer was the same. Haha, he wanted to kill me a few times I think.

I mean if you're having a wedding, good for you! Cos' I'm sure it will be memorable, definitely. I can still remember Thomas' and Lyn's wedding and it was exactly what we've always dreamed of, dresses and music and dance.

I mean if I regret it one day... at least we'll be richer regretting it, hopefully. haha! But right now,  I don't want to kill myself over it.

So now that I've put my mind into it, we're just gonna have a ROM reception and the date is all set and I'm pretty excited! :)

*************************
Left the blood bank!

There's always this mixed feeling whenever you leave a place. And I felt the same feeling when I left BTS and when I left Quest. That some thing which I have spent so much time with is going to be just history soon.

Anyway, I'm glad.. It was the right decision. And just to clarify..and remind myself next time.. I didn't quit, my contract ended. hahaha.

Went for two weeks trip to Germany to visit Ain shortly after my last day at BTS. Saw snow for the first time in my life. Played with snow..Experienced temperature below zero. Traveling is tiring, but it was fun :)

So at the moment I'm just jobless.
And waiting for the reply for my phd application (no high hopes though).

It's weird though, cos' I can sleep for 12hrs still. HOW TIRED AM I?!

*************************

and just a tiny achievement i would like to remember.. I saved my first $10k! I mean it's probably not much, but it's a tiny achievement for me, amidst all the loans I have to pay and my trip to Germany, hehe. Happy!

But of course all these will disappear shortly into all the wedding expenses, and my jobless status. But I'm still glad I managed to save..

But money is never enough... and i need to earn more.

is a beautiful wedding. and christmas!

i have a friend who is getting married soon, and she is just one year older than me.

she was more of an acquaintance, we only worked for less than 3 months together, in different department some more. which means to say, she is really very outgoing/friendly!

i like.
cos you know, i don't take initiative to make friends anymore.
haha.

we kept in touch on and off, mostly off. haha. but i have absolutely nothing against her. which is rare for me. :P And since she was in my uni too, but graduated the year when i enter, she gave me all sorts of advice, told me who i could call if i need friends etc. such stuffs.

so i think she's a good friend. i mean, when she say 'let's meet', we really meet. she really mean what she says, and keeps her promises, even though they are small little stuffs. And i like it too! :)

Anyhow, i'm just really happy that she's getting married! i know that guy too, sort of. haha.  we all work together for that short period. and i don't know.. few people get married before 24, and  people who do must be because of some kind of reason right? but whatever the reasons are, i just feel happy for her, for them :) i think she deserves a happy marriage. i know they love each other and that's the best and most impt thing for a couple, right?

hehe.

okay. i'm kind of just happy to see happy people/couple get married. :D ok, mental note to myself to meet her up when i'm back in SG!

 -------------

honours research was pretty tough. i'm a little struggling. but i know i can do it if i put in more effort to read up and such. but ahem, at least i am proud of my lab skills. hehe. :D training in micro really paid off i think! though i am still not very aseptic cos' my broth got contaminated just the first week, haha!  but it's useless because i keep doing the wrong things, load the wrong antibiotics, streak the wrong colony, forgot to put in my bacteria etc.

ermms..

haha. ok, ya.
busy busy year ahead!

can you believe, 2010 ended just like that?

while.... a year ago, 2009, it was a really bad year for me. and i'm glad that 2010 turned out a bit kinder, but still.. maybe because 2009 was too dreadful. nothing can beat that, so i had very low expectations.

i'm going to miss cny, and so i wouldn't know if 2011 would  be a good year for me. i don't usually listen to them anyway. sure, i will notice in the first few months, but i don't hold on to that thought throughout the year, whether it's gonna be good or bad. hmm.. maybe only when things turn bad, i blame it if i remember. haha.

ok, how i digress!  tsk. tsk.

i was saying.. i was making my New Year's resolution last month (yeah i start early, haha!), but then i realize that i didn't expect much this year (because last year i didn't make any resolutions of my own). and i am quite happy with how things went.

even though i was angry/upset/disappointed about some stuffs in the beginning, first half of the year rather, i felt a teeny weeny lil' bit better because i didn't expect anything and just let things be.

what i mean to say is, it could have been worse, that's all.
i could have been all twisted and damaged again, turned evil..
but i didn't, or at least not a lot!

So, though i kind of have a list already, I'm just going to make it a guideline (haha!). no time-limit, and just do my best lor. so stressful! it always happens, at november when i realise i haven't met my resolutions and my quickly try to salvage my list. depressing, really, when the last day of the year looms and the list looks like it has never been touched.

so, free-year ahead!
sounds good to me. you?

heh heh. x'mas is here. *smells the air*
And lovin' it.

they have Christmas break here ok! not long, but at least it is 10 days! not 1. and i love Christmas season! (again, no expectations no expectations...)

ho ho ho. under the mistletoe.
(have you guys heard lady gaga's christmas tree? it was damn funny, and wrong. and then it became irritating.)

fala lalala lalala lah~~

can't wait to graduate!!!!!

ohh, it really has been a while.

and so, September ended.
seems all so fast to me.

My sister got married on Tuesday. 290909.
was looking through songs, trying to suggest some songs for her. And I realised how long I have not listened to I Do. Awfully romantic. Awfully nice (oxymoron again. haha). Still the same as before... very sweet and cheesy song.

Totally mesmerised.

I never figured out why wedding banquets just don't interest me at all. It's supposed to be every girl's dream, big big restaurant, romantic montage, baby photos, wedding gowns, walking down the aisle and up the stage, infront of all your family and friends, going around the tables.. yum seng...

So not my dream at all since young.
Never knew why.

Going through the solemnisation, and the dinner, really makes me think alot about my own, in the future of course. and I agree, that getting married is indeed really easy. Troublesome, but easy, in comparison. Keeping the marriage is what matters.

So it matters not how grand or fanciful the wedding is, how many people attended the wedding.. It matters what happens after the wedding, right? How the newly wedded couple will keep the marriage, make good of the vows they made.. keep their promises to each other.

I figured.. It must be the wedding gown. Every girl's dream is to put on a wedding gown. It's so not the banquet. haha.

I guess it feels different, the moment you step into the crowd wearing your wedding gown. Cos a wedding gown is suppose to make the bride look pretty, and so.. you know the groom, and everyone else, is looking at the most beautiful person at the banquet, at least.

:)

Most of it is gibberish, but, it'll make sense some day. :P

siyan's wedding

Yesterday was a damn shiok day!
But just few hours after i woke up today, I know the shiok-ness definitely did not continue today :(

Was my cousin's wedding yesterday, woke up early to doll up first before heading for my aunt's house to wait for the bride. I wore the red dress, maybe toooo red haha. Not bad what, can wear for next year's chinese new year too, must plan ahead! =))

The whole event only ended at 4pm exactly including the photo taking sessions. So we got home at about 5pm, all feeling tired and drunk (DAD). Maybe not drunk but "heavily intoxicated" as Thomas would say. Tsk tsk.. Long time since he had so much fun, so we just let him be. But 10 glasses of red wine...

Maybe one day I should head for some alcohol too and see if I have inherited his "drinking" genes! =)) It will be so cool if I can drink 10 glasses of red wine at the age of 20 next year wahahhaa.. So if anyone tries to make me drunk on my 21st birthday I would be all prepared!

At aunt's house with nothing to do cause the bride went home to change already and we're all waiting for the bus to drive us to the hotel.

**********

Group photo at aunt's house. Mum & dad went home to change shoes, so Jermaine Ellis and I are "representatives". hahaha.

*********

Bride and groom serving tea to Ah ma. that auntie is my mum, so filial one..she went to spray her hair PURPLE you know!! so hip lor. Cannot believe that's my mum when I saw her ystd.

And the man wearing the polo-tee at the back is thee photographer. Think he was quite angry with me cause I just stood down there to take this photo ignoring his presence on many occasions.

Anyway, pretty dress ey? =))

*********

Rocher's again! Told you their house got tonne of chocolates~

*********

The wedding cupcakes. =) Really pretty and cute. Pink one is chocolate flavoured while the red one is vanila flavoured. But mum says it is not a good wedding door gift cause it is hard-to-eat. I think she's just pissed cause her lipstick was gone after eating this. Just apply again lor.. =/

*********

While waiting for lynette and thomas to arrive. My dad is so stern, but he is not lah. he is quite a funny dad actually. He says alot of little funny funny things that makes you go "huh?!! like that also can?"
=)

*********

Can spot the odd one out right? haha.
Me, Jermaine, Lyn's boyfriend (the recessive genes), Lynette.

*********

Family portrait.

*********

We're never 偷拍 "tou pai" a stranger hor. This pretty lady in white dress is my cousin! =) I almost almost wore a tube dress too you know, =P

*********

Have a happy and blissful marriage siyan jie jie! :)

Yea. so I reached home at about 5pm, bathed and I went to bed straight without waiting for my hair to dry. And I slept all the way until this morning!! Shiok man! it is like 14 hours of sleep? Cause I woke up at 7 or 8am, can't rmb. Just very happy knowing I slept so much =P

But it wasn't very shiok after that la. So many things undone because I spent the remaining evening sleeping and morning blogging here. An I woke up this morning with a BIG SWOLLEN right eye X.X

FYP presentation on Wednesday! Can't wait for it to be over. :(

Good luck to my dear! Having his driving test today hehe.. Good luck good luck! I love you :)
